The UBS Center Scholarship are scholarships awarded every year to outstanding university graduates to enable them to take up their doctoral studies at the Zurich Graduate School of Economics, run by the Department of Economics at the University of Zurich.
Furthermore, by funding new endowed chairs at the Department of Economics, the UBS Center will create additional doctoral positions for talented young researchers beyond the scholarship scheme. This will ensure that the Zurich Graduate School of Economics achieves a critical mass of top young talent to create a leading international graduate school with an attractive research environment.

DeadlineClosed Eligibility Preference may be given to students whose research plans include areas of interest of the UBS International Center of Economics in Society, applications from all areas are welcomed.
Admission to the Zurich Graduate School of Economics is a pre-condition for being considered for a UBS Center Scholarship.
How can you apply? Application can be done online only.
STEP ONE
Applications for the following academic year open each year in September. Please use online recruitment portal to submit your application.
Only online applications submitted via the application portal will be taken into consideration. Please refer to the checklist (PDF, 106 KB) for the necessary documents.
Annual submission deadline: 31st of January
Courses start in the fall term.
The received applications will be reviewed by the Selection Committee. If your application has fulfilled the high standards, you will receive an email with further instructions. Applicants who did not fulfill the necessary requirements will be informed via email and have the chance to apply again next year.
STEP TWO
If you are shortlisted for an interview, you will be asked to submit certain documents (e.g., certified copies of your diplomas) by regular mail to:

STEP THREE
After having been admitted to the program, students will have to apply for matriculation at the University of Zurich.

Value and duration of the UBS Center Scholarship
The UBS Center Scholarships cover living expenses and all fees. The stipend covering living expenses currently stands at CHF 42,500 per year.
Scholarships are offered to award holders for a period of four years, subject to satisfactory completion of course work.
