Sir J J Institute of Applied Art, Mumbai has announced Poster Design Competition 2018 on the occassion of eleventh Typography Day, in collaboration with the Industrial Design Centre (IDC), IIT Bombay, India Design Association (InDeAs) and Aksharaya, for students, faculty, and professionals to express Beauty, Form and Function in Typography.

    Eligibility

    In order to be eligible for this competition, an applicant can-

    • Be a student, faculty or professional.

    Note-  Non-resident Indians as well as foreign citizens can take part in the competition.

    How can you apply?

    The submission can be done online.

    Follow the steps given below-

    Step 2- Fill in all the details and upload the poster and other required documents.

Terms and Conditions

Submission Specifications-

  • The participant needs to submit the solution along with a brief write-up of around 150 words.

Poster-

  • Size of the final poster should be 420mm x 600mm only in portrait format.
  • The resolution should be 300 dpi.
  • File type should be JPEG or PDF.
  • Color Mode should be CMYK.

Other Details-

  • The theme of the poster is 'Beauty, Form, and Function in Typography'.
  • One can use the Language, Script and Typeface of his/her choice and can make use of one letter, one word, many words or even a paragraph composed of words.
  • Calligraphic or digitally created letterforms or existing fonts, or a combination of these can be used for the poster.
  • The format for write-up, contact, Info and Bio should be in RTF, TXT or PDF format.
  • Write-up about the design should be of maximum 150 words and written in English.
  • Contact Info (Name, Postal Address, Email, Telephone number, Name and Address of Institution) should be in English.
  • Your Bio-data/Personal Information should be written in English and be maximum of 100 words.
  • Each participant is allowed a maximum of three entries.

Award details-

  • Twenty-five winning entries will be published as a book and displayed in an exhibition during the ‘Typography Seminar and Workshop’ on 1st, 2nd and 3rd of March 2018. 
  • The winners are entitled to free participation (workshop expenses and food) during the event.

This scholarship is closed for further applications. It is expected to be launched by May, 2024. You can follow this scholarship for further updates.
