About The Program

The Artist's Network has announced The Artist's Magazine's Over 60 Art Competition 2017 for artists all over the world who are above 60 years of age. This competition is open to all artists working in two dimensions in all traditional art media.

In order to be eligible for this competition, an applicant must-

  • Be born on or before December 31, 1956. 
  • Be an artist who is working in two dimensions in all traditional art media (ex. oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, mixed media, gouache, egg tempera, pen, and ink; drawing media such as graphite, charcoal, coloured pencils, scratchboard, markers, metal point; and two-dimensional collage and fabric art as well).
  • Due to SEC restrictions, entries from Syria, Iran, Sudan or North Korea are not eligible for the competition.

Note- 

  • Digital art, photography, or three-dimensional art such as installation art or sculpture are not eligible.
  • Employees of F+W, a Content and eCommerce Company, and their immediate families, are not eligible.
  • All works must be original. 'Original' means that the work must be of a single artist. The pieces that originate from a workshop or a class under the direction of a teacher are not eligible.
  • The works based on reference photographs are eligible only when the artist must have taken the photographs or have obtained written permission from the photographer. 
  • Compositions based on published material or other artists’ work are not considered original and are not eligible.
  • Work previously published at the time of submission to this contest in a national publication or receiving an award at a national-level exhibition is not eligible. 
How can you apply?

The application can be submitted either online or via regular mail using a printable entry form.

Follow the steps given below to apply online-

Step 1- Click here to create an account.
Step 2- Click on Create a New Submission.
Step 3- Fill in all the details in the entry form.
Step 4- Upload a digital image. 
Step 5- Submit another entry or proceed to checkout.

Note- There is no limit to the number of entries one may submit.

Important points to keep in mind while submitting the artwork:

  • The image should be of JPG files (file size should be under 5 MB for proper uploading).
  • All entrants should be prepared to be able to send a hi-resolution print-quality replacement file should their entry be among those selected as a winner. For publication in The Artist's Magazine, these files should be 300 dpi when saved at approximately 8x10 inches ideally, and 5x7 inches at minimum.

  • The entry fee is US Dollar 25 per image and there is no any limit for the number of entries.

Award details- 

  • Total ten winners will be selected.
  • The winners will get-
    • USD 250 in cash.
    • Their artwork published in the April 20018 issue of The Artist’s Magazine.
    • Their artwork featured on The Artist’s Magazine website.

Ques: Are there any restrictions regarding subject matter etc.
A: We do not have any restrictions or preferences unless otherwise stated in the prospectus.

Ques: What category does my entry fall into?
A: Select the category from the list of options in your competition (if offered) that best represents the main focal point/subject matter of your entry. If the judge feels that another category is more appropriate, we will switch the category for you, on your behalf.
