About The Program

Directorate of Government Examinations, Telangana invites applications for National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) 2017.The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to meritorious students of economically weaker sections to arrest their drop out at Class 8 and encourage them to continue the study at the secondary stage.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
  • Students whose parental income from all sources is not more than INR 1,50,000 per annum are eligible to avail the scholarships.
  • The students shall have a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in Class VII examination for appearing in the selection test for the award of the scholarship. (Relaxable by 5% for SC/ST)
  • At the time of selection for the award of scholarship, the candidate must have scored at least 55% marks or equivalent grade in Class VIII examination. There will be 5 % relaxation for SC/ST.
  • For continuing the scholarship in class X and XII, the awardees should get clear promotion from class IX to class X and from class XI to class XII in the first attempt with 55% marks (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST). The awardees must obtain a minimum of 60% marks in Class X (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST) examination or equivalent examination for the continuation of the scholarship at the higher secondary stage. 
  • Be studying in ZP/ Local body/Government/Government aided schools. Model schools which have no residential facility only can apply. 

Note: The students of Class 8 studying in Telangana Social Welfare Residential Schools, Telangana Residential High Schools, Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential High Schools, Government Ashram High Schools and Kasturba Residential Schools, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, Model Schools with residential facility, Kendriya Vidyalayas in Private unaided schools and other government schools having residential facility are not eligible to apply.

How can you apply?

The eligible students can apply through their schools with following steps -
Step 1: Schools need to log in with their respective DISE school code and password by clicking here.  
Step 2: Fill in all the required information of the applicant in the application form and upload the photo with the signature of size less than 30 KB. 
Step 3: Pay examination fee through SBI collect. 
Step 4: Finally submit the application form. 
Step 5: After uploading the details, the student needs to click on 'Report' at the top of the application form. Then click on 'PDF' link for display of nominal roll. 
Step 6: Take the printout of the nominal roll and submit the following in the office of concerned District Educational Officer -

  • Two sets of nominal rolls attested by the concerned Head of the Institution. 
  • Application of each candidate attested by concerned Head of the Institution (Attested copies of caste and medical certificate in case of SC/ST/PH should be enclosed.)
  • Original challan of fee remittance.

For OC/BC students- INR 100
For SC/ST/PH students- INR 50
