About The Program

Tata Innovation Fellowship 2016-17 is organised by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India to recognize and reward PhD holders with excellent academic record in biological sciences and having innovative solutions to major problems in health, agriculture and other areas of science and biotechnology.

Total number of selection is 5 per year. This course is for the duration of three years and can be extendable for further two years on a fresh appraisal.

  • Indian nationals residing in India, below 55 years of age as on 21st November, 2016.
  • The should have a Ph.D degree in Life Sciences, Agriculture, Veterinary Science or a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences, Engineering or an equivalent degree in Biotechnology / related areas.
  • The candidate must have a regular permanent position in a Educational Institute and should be engaged in research and development.
  • The candidate should resided at least 5 years in India before applying for the fellowship.
  • Must have excellent academic track record and a deep commitment to find innovative solutions to major problems in health care, agriculture and other areas related to life sciences and biotechnology.
How can you apply?

Candidates can apply by sending six copies as per proforma which can be downloadable from DBT website and duly forwarded by the competent authority to Dr. A. K. Rawat, Scientist ‘F’, Department of Biotechnology, Block-2, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi -110 003, latest by 21st November, 2016.

Host Institution:

  1. The candidate will continue to work at the place of his/her employment.
  2. The Institution where the candidate is working would provide the necessary infrastructure and administrative support for pursuing the research under this fellowship.
