About The Program

Swami Dayanand Charitable Educational Foundation announces its first Merit-cum-Means Scholarship of students studying in IITs/NITs. The objective of the scheme is to award Meritcum-Means scholarships to deserving students belonging to economically weaker sections of society so as to provide them better opportunities for higher education, increase their rate of attainment in higher education and enhance their employability.

A. The scholarships are open for studies in India and for Indian nationals only.

B. Candidate should be a student of Graduate Engineering of IITs or NITs.

C. Candidate should have obtained minimum 65% marks in 12th class.

D. For existing students at IIT/NITs, Grade Point Average should be atleast 6.5 in 10 points scale system.

E. Gross annual income of family of the candidate from all sources should not be more than Rs.6.00 lakhs per annum. Students having lowest family income shall be given preference in the ascending order.

F. The age limit of the applicant is maximum 25 years as on 1st of October, 2015 for the Academic Session.

G. The candidates should not be availing or intend to avail any other financial assistance/scholarship from any other source. However, in case of student of getting fee waiver/reimbursement of tuition fees are eligible for applying for the scholarships. 

How can you apply?

1. Complete application with all the supporting documents as mentioned in the application form duly certified and forwarded by their Head/Principal/Dean of the Institute/ College, should reach the designated address as per the details given in application Format.

2. Alongwith the documents, Students have to submit an essay, in his own handwriting on “Why do I want to become an Engineer” (Not more than 300 words).

3. Last date for submission of duly completed application form is 05.09.2015.

Terms and Conditions

General Terms & Conditions:

i) Scholarships are for studies undertaken in India, and for Indian nationals only.

ii) Selection of Scholar will be on the basis of merit and family background such as percentage of marks obtained in the course and annual income of the family. Eligible Students having the lowest income shall be given preference in the ascending order.

iii) Decision of the Foundation with regard to selection will be final. No correspondence on the selection process will be entertained.

iv) Selection of candidates will be made on the basis of their performance in the class XII in case of admission to Engineering in IITs/NITs. The Foundation has discretion to alter or discontinue the scholarship without any notice.

v) The eligible students will be intimated through email or at the address mentioned in the form.

vi) The award of the scholarship shall not confer any right of employment with any company.

vii) The scholarship will be paid on annual basis only. The continuation of Scholarship, once awarded, should be subject to the satisfactory conduct and performance of the candidate in their examinations on Annual/Semester basis every year. The scholarship shall not be paid for the year the student fails to maintain the scale of 6.5 points minimum out of 10 points of CGPA/OGPA or secures less than 65% in the Annual/Semester examination. Further, the scholarship shall be terminated in the event of a student failing to pass in one additional attempt with the above said percentage of marks/CGPA/OGPA. The application for continuance of scholarship during subsequent year will be required to be submitted in the prescribed format given in Annexure-A.

viii) The foundation reserves the right to withdraw a scholarship awarded to any eligible candidate and seek repayment of any monies already paid, through all legal means, if such eligible candidate (a) is found to have misled the foundation, about any aspect of his/her eligibility (b) if it is found that there is any discrepancy or misrepresentation in any of the documentation/information provided by such eligible candidate.

ix) The foundation in its sole discretion may change the terms and conditions, selection criteria, selection process and/or withdraw or increase or decrease the scholarship amount at any time without giving any prior notice.
