The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme was launched in 2013 by the Hungarian Government. The core mission of the programme is to increase the number of foreign students in Hungary and to encourage Hungarian higher education institutions to attract top foreign students currently, 50 sending partners are engaged in the programme. Thousands of students from all around the world apply for higher educational studies in Hungary each year. In the academic year 2017-18, approximately 4000 students can begin their studies in Hungary in the framework of the Stipendium Hungaricum Programme. The Programme is managed by Tempus Public Foundation.
Language Proficiency
The application can be done online only with the following steps:
Step 1: Register yourself.
Step 2: Fill all the details.
Step 3: Students shall have a level of English proficiency required by the host institution.
Step 4: Students shall participate in a one-year preparatory Hungarian language course before starting their higher education studies.
The Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship is a contribution to the living costs of the scholarship holder only. The legal entity of the scholarship contract is exclusively the scholarship holder and the Host Institution. Scholarship holders are obliged to live and study in Hungary, therefore they are not allowed to live habitually in any other countries during the study period otherwise, their scholarship holder status will be terminated.

Q. Do applicants need to pay for their application?
A. No.
Q. Do applicants need to register anywhere else than the stipendium hungaricums application system?
A.It is depending on the sending partner.
Q. Do applicants need the admission from the university?
A. Not yet. Admissions will be organised later on, during April-may.
Q. What do applicants need in their medical certificate?
A. HIV, Hepatitis A, B, C and any other epidemic condition (to prove that you have no infectious disease).

Q. Which study programme can Iapply for?
A. Only those, which are supported by the agreement between Hungary and your country. The document picker will show you the programmes available in your country/region.
Q. Do the applicants have to be nominated by their country?
A. Yes, only the nominated applications will be forwarded to the universities.
Q. Can the applicants apply straight to the universities for stipendium hungaricum scholarship?
A. No.

Q. Why some countries are not eligible to apply?
A. Because your country has not contracted Hungary about the stipendium hungaricum programme.
Q. Do applicants need the valid passport for the application?
A. You can start your application without the passport but later the winner applicants must have a valid passport.

A. You will get informed about the successful application once the deadline is closed.
Q. Why haven't Igot informed by email yet?
A. In our experience, in the case of Hotmail, yahoo and stromal mail systems users do not always come to be informed by mail. In this case, it is recommended to inquire about the results at stipendiumhungaricum@tpf.hu!
