Shell India announces its third edition of the Shell Junior National Science Scholarship Programme

Shell Junior National Science Scholars programme recognizes young people with exceptional talent. It aims to inspire students to focus on science and environment. The scholarships is for students of classes IX and X and is sponsored by Shell India Markets Pvt. Ltd., a fully owned subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell.

About The Programme

The Shell Junior National Science Scholarship celebrates and inspires the creative potential of young minds. It is a platform to nurture them for future challenges and is aimed at encouraging innovators of tomorrow

Format

Shell Junior National Science Scholarship programme shall be conducted out of 20 cities, with test centers within each of these cities.

To participate in the Shell Junior National Science Scholarship programme, students will have to undertake an online test. The test will comprise questions on topics from physics, chemistry, mathematics and general knowledge with a special focus on energy sector. Out of the total 61 questions 60 will objective and 1 subjective. The answer to the subjective question will serve as a tie-breaker. It will only be assessed if scores of the winning students stand equal.

Awards

The Scholarship offers an opportunity for 20 regional winners, one from each city, who get a one-time scholarship of Rs. 50,000. Three toppers – selected on the basis of marks scored – from amongst these regional winners will receive the National Level Awards of Rs. 75,000.

The Mentor Teacher for the regional winner shall get an opportunity to attend a professional workshop focused on innovative and globally practiced strategies for concept introduction in the areas of Science and Mathematics, along with two years subscription of a leading education magazine.
Apart from the above, the Mentor Teacher for the national winner shall get an opportunity to attend a 2-day workshop on “School leadership in the 21st century”

How to Register yourself:

Schools can register online. All updated information about the programme will be posted here.
After the registration, the schools will be able to download the admit cards for the students, in which the student will be required to affix a photograph. Along with the photograph, the admit card must be attested by the school Principal.
This admit card will be required to be presented at the examination centre on the given date. Register

Eligibility

Class IX and X students chosen by the school will be eligible to appear for the Shell Junior National Science Scholarship examination.

Test Format

60 objective and 1 subjective question on topics from physics, chemistry, mathematics and general knowledge focused on energy sector.
The answer to the subjective question will serve as a tie-breaker and only be assessed if scores of the winning students stand equal.

The students can download their admit card after registering on the website. The students would then need to affix their photograph.

    Ans. The duration of the exam is one hour.
  2. How many questions will be asked in the examination?
    Ans. The student will be asked total of 61 questions, out of which 60 will be objective and 1 subjective question.

    Ans. The exam will be conducted online at a facility provided by Shell.
