Introduction

The number of scholarships for meritorious SC/ST students has been increased to 500 for four eligible courses. The distribution of scholarship amongst Boys and Girls for the five Zones referred in the Office Order dtd.15.01.2013 are given at Annexure-I.

The amount of scholarships for a student has been fixed at Rs.4,OOO/- p.m. per student. However, this would be admissible for four years each for students of Engineering and MBBS alike and for two years each for the students of MBA and Masters in Geology/Geophysics. It is pertinent to mention here that admissibility of scholarship for MBBS students has been kept as four years.

iii) In terms of Clause (f) of the Office Order dated 15.1.2013, in case the number of applications received from any particular zone for the academic year under consideration is less than the prescribed number, the left over scholarship shall be distributed centrally amongst remaining zones with the approval of EO - Chief - ER. In case number of leftover scholarships is less than four, the distribution amongst remaining four zones will be in cyclical fashion on year after year basis.

iv) The specific zone where a student can apply for scholarship shall be decided on the basis of the location of University/College/Institute in which the student was studying for the qualifying examination (i.e. 12th class for Graduate courses and Graduation degree for Post Graduate courses) irrespective of the domicile of the student.

The details of zonewise distribution and the ONGC Work Centre responsible for administration and implementation of the scheme are given in Annexure-II. For better coordination of the scheme, the implementation of the scheme will be the responsibility of the  I/C HR-ER of the respective identified Work Center except at Dehradun. The SC/ST Cell at Dehradun shall carry out the implementation of the scheme for North Zone. The aggregate sanction of funds will be taken at Hqrs. level for all the zones and conveyed to each zone every year.

B. Eligibility Criteria:

i) The scholarships are open for studies in India and for Indian nationals only.

ii) The age limit for a student to apply for the scholarship shall be more 30 years as on 1st of October of the academic session of the year of advertisement.

iii) Gross Joint income of the family of the candidate from all sources during a financial year should not exceed Rs.4.50 lakhs per annum.

iv) The first year Students having confirmed admission and pursuing full time/regular courses (nor correspondence or distance mode) in the approved streams of studies from Colleges/Institution /Universities recognized by MCI/ AICTE/State Education Boards/State Govt./Central Govt./Association of Indian Universities shall be eligible to apply.

v) Students availing any other financial assistance/scholarship from any other source will not be eligible for ONGC's scholarship. Applications are to be routed through Head of the Institution, where the student is studying.

vi) The percentage of marks obtained in qualifying exams in 12th class for graduate courses, and aggregate percentage of marks of graduation degree for Post Graduate courses, will be considered on merit basis for award of scholarships. A student should secure at least 60% marks or OGPA/CGPA of 6/10 in respective qualifying examinations for being considered for award of ONGC's Scholarship. Selection of candidates will be made on the basis of their performance in the Class-XII in case of admission to Engineering and MBBS courses and Graduation in case of Post-Graduation courses in Geology, Geophysics and MBA.

C. Application and Selection procedure:

i) The advertisements for inviting applications for scholarships will be published as per the formats given at Annexure-Ill and IV in all the five zones in local and National dailies by the concerned Incharge HR/ER and SC/ST Cell at Dehradun in the month of September (last week) and/or October (first week) of every year. The entire details along with format may also be uploaded on ONGC's website www.ongcindia.com.

ii) The candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will be required to submit their applications as per the "Application Format" (Annexure-V).

iii) The duly completed application with all the supporting documents as mentioned in the application form, certified and forwarded by the respective Dean/Head/Principal of the Institute/University should reach the designated ONGC's offices within 45 days from the date of advertisement, which should not be later than 3rd week of November (i.e. by 22nd of November of every year) of the year of advertisement.

iv) Selection of candidates will be made on the basis of their performance in Class-XII in case of admission to Engineering and MBBS courses and Graduation in case of admission to Post Graduate courses in Geology, Geophysics and MBA. The percentage of marks obtained in qualifying examination i.e. XII Class for Graduate courses and aggregate percentage of marks of Graduation Degree for Post Graduate courses, will be considered on merit basis for award of scholarships. A student should secure atleast 60% of marks or OGPA/CGPA of 6/10 in respective qualifying examination for being considered for award of ONGC scholarship.

v) In the event of more than one student obtaining similar Marks/OGPA/CGPA, the merit list will be prepared on the basis of following order:

a) Older age on the basis of date of birth.

b) Marks obtained in immediate preceding examination/Board; and

c) Families having lower financial income to be given precedence for award of scholarship.

 

vi) In case the details of marks, income or any other information declared/submitted at the time of initial application is found incorrect during scrutiny or thereafter, the application of such candidates shall be summarily rejected. Incomplete/delayed applications are liable to be rejected.

 

vii) The final list of the scholarships beneficiaries shall be posted on website www.ongcindia.com by the second week of January of every year but not later than is 15th of January every year.

D. General Conditions:

i) Decision of the Company with regard to selection will be final. No correspondence on the selection process will be entertained;

ii) Company has discretion to alter or discontinue the scholarship without any notice.

iii) The award of the scholarship shall not confer any right of employment with ONGC group of companies or its joint ventures.

iv) The scholarship will be paid on annual basis only. The continuation of Scholarship, once awarded, should be subject to the conduct and satisfactory performance of the candidate in their examinations on Annual/Semester basis every year. The scholarship shall not be paid for the year the student fails to maintain the scale of 5points out of 10 points of CGPA/OGPA or secures less than 50% in the Annual/Semester examination. Further, the scholarship shall be terminated in the event of a student failing to pass in one additional attempt with the required percentage of marks/CGPA/OGPA. The application for continuance of scholarship during subsequent year will be required to be submitted as per Annexure-VI to this order.

v) The students already getting ON GC scholarship earlier prior to revision of the existing value of scholarship will not be eligible for revised rate of scholarship amount and will be paid scholarship as per the rate applicable at the time of award of the same then.

vi) The time frame for implementation of the scheme is given as per Annexure-VII for reference, and

vii) Corporate Communications of All Assets/Basins/lnstitutes /Plants/Offices may give wide publicity in local print/electronic media as well as in concerned Colleges/Universities.

viii) Any explanation/clarification, if required, may be referred to the office of ED-Chief ER.

Eligibility:

A. Candidate should be a student of 1st year of Graduate Engineering Courses or 1st year of Masters Degree in Geology/Geophysics, MBA & MBBS and should be pursuing full time regular course at any I.I.T'/University/lnstitute recognized by the Govt. of India.

B. Candidate should have obtained minimum 60% marks in iz'' class for Engineering & MBBS discipline and in graduation for P.G. Courses i.e. Geology/Geophysics/MBA as applicable or Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of minimum 6.0 in 10 points scale of grading system.

C. Annual Income of parents from all sources should not be more than 4.50 lakhs per annum (i.e. 37,500/- per month).

D. The age limit prescribed is maximum 30 years as on 1st October of the Academic Session of the year of advertisement.

E. The candidates should not be availing or desirous to availing any other financial assistance/scholarship from any other source.

F. The continuation of scholarships once awarded shall be subject to satisfactory 11 performance in each year's annual examination and conduct of the candidate. No scholarship shall be paid for the year where the student fails to maintain the scale of 5 points out of 10 points or secure less than 50% in the examination.

2.
