What is National University Film Making Competition 2017?

University Grants Commission has announced the National University Film Making Competition 2017 with an objective to increase consciousness on ragging between the students. The universities and affiliated colleges can send their entries in the form of documentary films or fictions on the theme ragging to University Grants Commission (UGC). Through this initiative, University Grants Commission aims to restrict, check and remove the practice of ragging in institutions.

Who can apply for this scholarship ?

The students and faculties of the affiliated colleges or universities are eligible for this competition.

How can you apply ?

In order to apply for this competition-

  • Students and faculties of the colleges/universities have to develop films based on ragging and submit the film to their respective colleges/ universities.
  • The colleges/universities will select the best three films through their internal selection and will send the entries by post to UGC on the address mentioned below-

Terms and Conditions

Important points to consider-

  • The participant should submit documentary or fiction films on the theme of ragging.
  • The duration of the film should be 5-10 minutes.
  • The award-winning films would be the property of the UGC.
  • The award-winning films will be uploaded on UGC website and credit will be given to the respective filmmakers.
  • The entries should be sent by the universities in pen drive or DVD to UGC.

Award details-

The expert committee of University Grants Commission will select the three best films from the entries and will give an award amount of-

  • INR 5,00,000 to the first best film.
  • INR 3,00,000 to the second best film.
  • INR 2,00,000 to the third best film.
