Department of Science & Technology(DST) invites applications for the National Awards for Women’s Development 2017 to recognize the contribution at the grassroots level. This prestigious award comprises of a memento, a citation and a cash prize of INR 5 lakhs for Individual and INR 15 lakhs for an Institutional category.

DeadlineClosed Eligibility - The individual/ institution should have at least 10 years of experience in research, design, development, adaptation or application of science and technology at the grassroots level for women’s development
- Earlier recipients are not eligible to apply
Persons eligible to nominate
- Nomination can be made by Vice Chancellors of Universities, Directors of IITs, IISERs, NITs, R&D institutions, Heads of science based voluntary organizations, Secretaries of S&T Departments, Secretaries of State S&T Departments/Councils for S&T
- Earlier winners of this award
How can you apply? The application can be done through nomination only by the following steps:
Step 1: Nominations must be made in the given format
Step 2: The nominations must be typed on a plain paper
Step 3: Attach a narrative in about 1000 words, the contributions of the nominee relevant to science and technology which includes the following:
- Projects undertaken along with objectives
- Timeline of achievements of the nominee during the last 10 years.
- Strategies adopted
- Innovations
- Outcomes in terms of benefit to women
- Was this Initiative / Nominee a Winner of any Award instituted by any other
- National/International Organization? (If so, please provide brief details thereof)
- Supporting documents
Step 4: Information on the Institution making the nomination(Nominator), Persons sending nomination should include (Name, Designation, Address, Tel., Fax, Email and brief biodata)
Step 5: The entry must be sent to the given address, the envelope must contain 3 copies.

General Terms & Conditions
- If the nominations received and no one seemed suitable for the award, it would not be given in that year.
- If in case more than one application is selected, the amount of award will be separately given to each.
- Entry must be nominated by someone otherwise will not be considered.
- The awardees shall be intimated by post and e-mail.
- The awardees have to deliver a speech on the given topic by DST at a place intimated by the Department of Science and Technology.
