About The Program

Mitacs invites applications for Mitacs Globalink Research Award 2017 from senior undergraduate as well as graduate students at Canadian universities to ensure research collaborations with faculty members at overseas universities. The leading partner countries are India, Brazil, China, France, Korea, Israel, Mexico and Tunisia. 

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible for the award, an applicant must -

  • Be a permanent resident, Canadian citizen or international student. 
  • Be a graduate or senior undergraduate (for undergraduate applicants) at a Canadian university. 
  • Maintain an average score of 'B' in last two semesters(for undergraduate applicants).
  • Be registered at a reputed Canadian University for full-time studies. 
  • Qualify the legal age (18 years or older) of being a major candidate in Canada.  
  • Fulfill all travel requirements such as immigration requirements, visa and other associated documents. 

 

How can you apply?

Eligible candidates can apply for the award through the following steps -
Step 1: Download the application form. (Note: Please make sure to have the latest version of Adobe Reader). 
Step 2: Prepare all documents and create their scanned images in Pdf format. 
Step 3: Email the application form along with all required documents to apply@mitacs.ca with the following subject - 
'Student first and last name_Destination_Mitacs partner, if applicable.'

Terms and Conditions

Documents required 

  • A research proposal in the prescribed format. 
  • A curriculum vitae as per the Mitacs template.
  • Letter of support from two participating professors. 
  • CV of the host supervisor in French or English language that includes funding history, graduate students supervised and publications. 
  • Transcripts of currently pursuing degree program such as CGPA and GPA scores (from undergraduate applicants). 
  • International pre-departure form. 
  • Student's code of conduct and ethics.

Application instructions 

  • Keep the size of the email less than 10 MB. In case, it exceeds, try to send multiple emails for convenience. 
  • Submit the application form in its original file format. 
  • The participating professors can submit the letter of support separately or the candidates can submit it along with their application form. 

Award details

Depending on the country to which the candidate is applying for the research, the funding may vary -

  • For India, Brazil, China, Korea, Israel, Mexico and Tunisia, the students will receive a funding of $6,000. 
  • For France, the students will receive a funding of $6,000 to $7,000.
  • Additionally, the candidates will receive finances in support of travel and accommodation expenses and research-related expenses.
