Q.What is Certiport's 2016 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship?

A.Certiport's 2016 Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) World Championship is a global competition that tests students' skills on Microsoft Office Word, Excel® and PowerPoint®. Top students are invited to represent their respective countries at the World Championship. At the World Championship event, each student competes for World Champion in his or her category (Microsoft Word 2013, Microsoft Word 2010, Microsoft Excel® 2013, Microsoft Excel® 2010, Microsoft Office PowerPoint® 2013, and Microsoft Office PowerPoint® 2010).

Q. How do I participate in the 2016 MOS India Championship?

A.There are three (3) rounds in the Championship: Qualification, the India Championship, and the World Championship.

  • Qualification Round: Competitors qualify to compete by entering a passing score earned on an eligible MOS exam into the Championship. Exams must be taken between the dates of 1 October 2015 – 17 April 2016 in order to qualify for the 2016 Championship.
  • India Championship: The top students from around India will be invited to compete in the India Championship event from 20 – 21 May in New Delhi, India. Certiport reserves the right to include additional criteria in shortlisting the candidates. During the India Championship event, the top student in each of the six (6) exam tracks will be named the Indian Champion for his or her category.
  • World Championship: The six (6) First Place Indian Champions, one per track, will receive an all–expenses–paid trip* to represent India and compete in Certiport's 2016 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship from 7 – 10 August 2016 in Orlando, Florida, USA!

*India Champions must obtain a passport and travel VISA by 10 July 2016 in order to be able to travel to the USA. Receipt of the all–expenses–paid travel award and participation in the World Championship event is contingent on student's ability to obtain a travel VISA. If a winning student is unable to obtain a travel VISA, Certiport reserves the right to transfer the award to another competitor at their discretion. India Championship participants are advised to have a valid passport to reduce delays in VISA processing.

Q. How will the India Champions be identified at the 2016 MOS India Championship event?

A.During the 2016 MOS India Championship event, all students will take a unique competition exam in their track.  During this exam, students will be given a printed copy of a document, spreadsheet, or presentation to recreate.  Students will be given printed instructions and guidelines and digital assets to assist in the recreation.  Students will be scored according to the accuracy of their recreation, when compared to the original.  This method is also used during the World Championship.

Q. How do I enter my MOS exam score into the Championship?

A.Participating competitors may enter the score of a qualified MOS exam taken between 1 October 2015 and 17 April 2016 into the Championship (Qualifying Round) in either of two ways:

  1. Register Eligible Exam Immediately Prior to Testing: If the eligible Exam is taken at an ACADEMIC Certiport Authorized Testing Center, the exam delivery tool will prompt the student to register his/her score into the Championship immediately prior to taking the exam. If the candidate chooses to submit his/her score to the Championship, the results of that exam will be automatically entered into the Championship.
  2. Register Eligible Exam(s) Following Testing:, Students may also register any eligible Exam(s) after taking the exam(s) by logging onto their Candidate Home Page atwww.certiport.com, clicking on the Championship link, and following the registration instructions. Eligible Exams registered using this tool must be registered during the official Championship dates of the country in which the eligible Exam(s) was taken. Eligible Exams taken by students at any COMMERCIAL Certiport Authorized Testing Center may also be registered using this tool.

Q. Who can participate in the Championship?

A.To participate in the Championship, candidates must be students that are enrolled in an approved, accredited academic institution recognized by India. As of 15 June 2016, students must also be between the ages of 13 and 22 (less than 23 years of age). Students participating in the Championship must be able to provide proof of age and student status upon request.

By taking an eligible Exam and entering this Championship, student, solution provider and distributor participants agree to abide by all terms of the Official Rules.

Previous winners (1st, 2nd, or 3rd place) of a regional competition (COMPUDON) are eligible for the 2016 Championship. However, they cannot compete in the Exam / MS Office Application they previously competed in. For example, a student who won a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place prize in Microsoft Excel® (2010 or 2007) during a previous year's COMPUDON, may compete in Microsoft Word or PowerPoint, but not Excel.
