What is MTSE?
Maths Talent Search Examination (MTSE) is a competitive examination conducted at various levels by the Indian Institute for Studies in Mathematics (IISMA). The focus of this exam is on mathematical reasoning, mental ability, novel approach, concepts, accuracy and speed.
MTSE is an open exam. Any student studying in Class III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX under any educational board is eligible to appear for MTSE. A student can appear only for the class in which he/she is studying during the academic year.
Nature of Exam
The paper consists of 50 objective questions i.e. each question  has 4 alternatives. These questions are to be answered in 90 minutes, on an OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) answer sheet. The correct answer is awarded with 2 marks, whereas the wrong one carries a penalty of 0.5 marks, except for Class III and IV.
Hall Ticket, Seat Number and Centre for Examination
The Hall Ticket, bearing the student’s Seat Number and Centre for the Examination is sent to the school 10 days prior to the date of the examination. You can also download your Hall Ticket by visiting the Downloads section of this website.
The results of the examination are declared on this website by the 30th of April and can be checked by visiting the Results section. The marksheet and certificates are sent to the schools by the 30th of June. Students are requested to keep checking this site periodically.
Verification of Marks
If a student desires to get his/her marks reassessed, an application in this regard, along with a self addressed stamped envelope (9" x 4.5") should  be submitted to the office of the IISMA.Along with application, please attach Demand Draft / Pay Order of Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred Only) drawn in favour of 'Indian Institute for Studies in Mathematics' payable at 'Mumbai'.
Photocopy of the answer sheet and model answer key will be made available after verification. Applications received after the specified date will not be entertained. The decision of IISMA in this matter shall be final and binding.
Registration for MTSE 2014
Date of Examination : 16th February, 2014
You can register for MTSE 2014 by filling up the online form and sending the necessary fees.
You can also downlaod the application form, the link is given below and Take a printout and fill the form correctly following instructions specified on the form. Duly filled hard copy of the Registration form along with necessary fee must reach our office on or before the prescribed dates.
(Note: If you want to buy any publications, you can add the amount to your registration fee itself.)
Registration Fees: Rs. 200 only
Last date for Registration: 31st October, 2013
Late Registration Fees: 
Add Rs. 50 upto 15th November, 2013
Add Rs. 100 thereafter upto 30th November, 2013
Mode of Payment
The fee can be paid either by -
(i) Cash at our office.
(ii) Pay order / demand draft drawn in favour of "Indian Institute for Studies in Mathematics", payable at Mumbai to be attached with the form.
(iii) Depositing cheque in any computerised branch of Punjab National Bank in Account No. 3736002101016736; or HDFC Bank in Account No. 05012020000872 in the name of "Indian Institute for Studies in Mathematics" and sending original counterfoil of pay-in-slip along with the Registration Form.
(iv) Transferring the amount online in our above mentioned bank accounts.The details for online transfer are as under :
(a) HDFC Bank, Mistry Bhavan, Churchgate Branch. IFSC : HDFC0000501.
(b) Punjab National Bank, Vile Parle (E) Branch. IFSC : PUNB0373600.
We request you to avoid depositing cash in our above mentioned bank accounts. In case of cash deposit, please add Rs. 25.00 for Punjab National Bank / Rs. 62.00 for HDFC Bank.
Outstation payments (outside of Mumbai) are to be made by Demand Draft or Deposit only in Punjab National Bank or HDFC bank.
No payments by cheque sent to our office will be accepted.
The Registration fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
Students scoring above 30 or the Benchmark score, whichever is higher, are declared as successful. (The Benchmark score is the average score of all the students for that class.)
The top 5 rank holders of each class are awarded mementoes.
The top 200 successful students from each class are awarded a Certificate of Merit and Cash prizes worth more than Rs. 3.5 lacs as under.
A Certificate of Participation is awarded to all other students writing the examination.

Std IV   : Number Sequence up to five digits,Roman Numerals,Divisibility,Arithmetic Operations,Mathematical Expressions,Brackets,Fractions and Decimals,Measurement,Currency,Length,Weight,Volume,Time,Angles and Geometrical Concepts.
Std V    : Number Sequence up to nine digits,Roman Numerals,Divisibility,Arithmetic Operations,Mathematical Expressions,Brackets,GCD and LCM,Fractions and Decimals,Average,Profit and Loss,Percentage,Interest,Measurement,Currency,Length,Weight,Volume and Area,Time, Distance and Speed,Angles,Circles and Geometrical Concepts.
Std VI   : Integers,Roman Numerals,Divisibility,Arithmetic Operations,Mathematical Expressions,Brackets,Indices,Ratio and Proportion,GCD and LCM,Fractions and Decimals,Average,Profit and Loss,Percentage,Interest,Measurement,Currency,Length,Weight,Volume and Area,Time, Distance and Speed,Angles,Circles,Triangles,Consruction,Geometrical Concepts and Graphs.
Std VII  : Rational Numbers,Roman Numeral,Divisibility,Arithmetic Operations,Mathematical Expressions,Brackets,Indices,Variation,GCD and LCM,Fractions and Decimals,Pythagoras Theore,Average,Profit and Loss,Percentage,Interest,Measurement,Currency,Length and Weight,Volume, Area and Surface Area,Time, Distance and Speed,Angles,Circles,Triangles,Quadrilaterals,Symmetry,Congruence,Consruction,Geometrical Concepts and Graphs.
