About The Program

India Post invites applications for All India Letter Writing Competition "Dhai Akhar" 2017-18. The theme is "Dear Bapu (Mahatma Gandhi) you inspire me..." and it can be written in any language i.e English/Hindi or any Local language. There are two categories: Inland Letter Card in 500 words and Envelope category/A-4 size paper in 1000 words.

How can you apply?

The application can be done by visiting the post office to post the letters in a special letterbox only.

  • The letter should be addressed to Chief Postmaster General of the respective Circles.
  • Rural area: Letter will be given to the local BO. The BOs will dispatch it to respective HO/SO.
  • In district headquarters and larger towns and cities, a special box will be placed after clearly earmarked "letter writing campaign"
  • In small town: main post office

Terms and Conditions

There are two categories upto 18 years and above 18 years. Best 3 in both categories will be shortlisted and sent to the Directorate, out of these, best 3 will be sent to Sabarmati Ashram.

Prizes and awards:

First prize in each category: INR 50,000
Second Prize: INR 25,000
Third Prize: INR 10,000

Circle level prize winner:
First prize in each category: INR 25,000
Second Prize: INR 10,000
Third Prize: INR 5,000
