What is IITM Summer Fellowship Programme 2016?

The IITM - Summer Fellowship Programme of two months with stipend is designed to enhance awareness and interest in high quality academic research among young Engineering, Management, Sciences and Humanities students through a goal oriented summer mini-project undertaken at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

Who can apply for this scholarship ?

Candidates pursuing Third Year of B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engg)/Integrated M.E./M.Tech. programme, First Year of ME/M.Tech/M.Sc./M.A, MBA with outstanding academic background in terms of high ranks in university examinations are encouraged to apply, highlighting their academic performance and achievement including papers presented at seminars, projects executed, design contests participated, score/rank in Mathematics Olympiad and any other awards/distinctions obtained. [IIT students are not eligible to apply].

  1. What is bonafide certificate, is there any format?

    Bonafide certificate should be in Letter head, Name, Roll No,

  2. If not getting activation link what to do?

    send mail to with username and email id

  3. I have applied for Summer Internship 2016 but unfortunately I forgot my username & password. What Should I do?

    User can click on the "Request new password" link and give your user or email, portal will send the activation link to registered mail id, through that password can be reset

  4. I can not get activation link to my email id after created the account?

    Problem/Solution may be one of the following:
    (1)hotmail may not get mail which script sent 
    (2) you can click on the "Request new password" and give username or registered mailid in the text box and check registered mail to get activation link

  5. How to create an account in this site?

    Click on the Register option (top right corner)
    Give login name and email id to get activation link
    Check registred mail for activation link and click on the link to reset the password

  6. After login in the following 5 steps are to be adhered to

    I - Click on the Edit Basic Profile menu and fill Basic / UG / PG / Additional Qualifying Exam. Details
    II - Click on the View my Application menu to check submited info. is correct
    III - Click on the Apply to Department menu and select Department, Research area Preference and Project porposal (for Faculty to identify your Research area interest)
    IV - Click on the Upload My Files to upload all the files applicable to you.
    V - Click on the Submit My Application menu to create PDF format application (this will generate only after when your files upload is complete 
    VI - All ways check your info using View my Application menu

  7. How we can reduce the size of image to 1MB (or 1024 KB)?

    Using Windows Mocrosoft Picture Manager software you can reduce size to less than 1 MB
    step 1 - open with Mocrosoft Picture Manager
    Step 2 - Click on the edit button
    step 3 - Right hand side you can see document/web format you can select Document format for resonable size reduction and view

  8. What is the use of Complaints menu?

    You can raise your issue through compalint menu, History (complaints / replies) will be visible in the complains page

  9. How can we apply more than one departmnet?

    Create new user with different email id and apply to second one.

  10. I don't have any idea about my project Proposal, how can fill Research Proposal in the Apply to Department page?

    Write 5 line about what you will do when you get selected for this program, that will be useful for faculty to find your area of interest
    Other wise you can type "no idea about project proposal" and submit

  11. How would I come to know if my application has been submitted or not. Will I receive any acknowledgement?

    Once upload the bonafide certificate you can click on the "Submit My Application" menu you will get PDF application if PDF if created then your application is submitted successfully, you won't get acknowledgement from site/office

Terms and Conditions

Period of the Project: Duration of the programme may commence from 16th May 2016 to 15th July 2016. (Schedule may be flexible to suit student’s convenience.)

Stipend: A sum of Rs.5000/- per month will be given as a stipend for a maximum period of 2 months.

Last date for submitting application : 29th February 2016 at 5.00pm

How to Apply:
Application should be submitted through online.
There is no need to send hard copy to IIT Madras.
Generate a pdf file and keep it for your reference.
Please ensure that all the relevant data and enclosures are uploaded online.
Incomplete applications will be rejected.

Note: Letter issued by the Head of the Institution certifying that you are a bonafide student.
