- Students with MSc/MA or an equivalent degree can apply.
- Students must have obtained an MSc/MA or an equivalent degree with minimum 55% marks (For General/OBC students) or 50% marks (For SC/ST/PH/VH students).
- Students should not be aged more than 28 years as on 30 September 2018 (For general candidates)
Note: A relaxation of five years of age will be provided to SC/ST/PH/VH candidates and three years of age relaxation to OBC candidates.
Benefits
Under the fellowship program, the selected fellows will receive INR 25,000 per month along with an annual contingency grant of INR 20,000.

Selection Criteria
The selection of the fellows will be made on the basis of the admission test conducted by the council. It is a 2 hours duration test in which each question carries one mark and there is negative marking of 0.25 marks on every wrong answer. The result is based on the aggregate marks which is 55% for General and OBC and 50% for SC/ST and physically handicapped.

- A total of 150 fellowships will be awarded out of which 120 will be for work in the field of biometric sciences with emphasis on life sciences and the other 30 will be for work with an emphasis on social sciences and allied subjects.
- SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates will be will be given special consideration according to the policy guidelines.
- The validity of fellowships will be six months.
