HWK Fellowships, Germany 2018 invites applications from highly qualified scientists of all career levels from postdoctoral to senior researchers. The key objective of the fellowship is to offer outstanding scholars the opportunity to focus on their research in the field of Society, Brain, Earth and Energy without any distraction of everyday academia, to benefit them from wide range of academic traditions represented at the institute and to allow them to interact with colleagues from other disciplines.

DeadlineClosed Eligibility An applicant must -- Have completed PhD degree or equivalent more than 5 years ago and have considerable professional experience in science and research (for regular fellowships)
- Have earned a PhD degree within last five years and have gained first professional experience in science and research (for junior fellowships)
Benefits The financial condition of this program is negotiable on an individual basis. The fellowship includes -- Fully-furnished apartment on the HWK campus (accommodation)
- A lump sum amount towards travel cost (one-time)
- Compensation payments
- Personal stipends
Note: The amount of compensation payment and personal stipends to employers is limited to maximum EUR 2,000 per month for Junior Fellows.Documents - The completed application form
- A formal cover letter to the Rector of the HWK
- An abstract of the Fellowship project in not more than 1500 characters (including blanks) for a non-peer audience
- An abstract of the Fellowship project in not more than 1500 characters (including blanks) for peers
- A project proposal, in not more than 10 pages (including references) describing the planned research project containing a detailed work schedule
- A curriculum vitae
- A list of publications
- One recently published article or paper or book chapter by the applicant;
- Letters of support/confirmation of access to necessary research infrastructure from cooperating colleagues in the Northwest (if applicable)
- An abstract of the doctoral dissertation (PhD thesis), in not more than 1500 characters (including blanks)(Applicable for Junior Fellowship Application only)
- Two letters of reference from experts in the field, to be sent to the HWK directly

- The formal letter to the Rector of the HWK, the project proposal, and the CV must be signed by the applicant
Selection Criteria
The fellows will be selected on the basis of the quality of -
- Their proposed research project
- Their scientific qualification
- The project is fit with the scientific activities of HWK
- Their willingness to contribute and to profit from highly interdisciplinary scientific community
- The availability of resources
