About The Program

The GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program began in 1987 in Mexico and has grown to support outstanding students in higher education in fourteen countries around the world.

The program initially provided traditional financial support for university education, but has developed into an exciting Leadership Development Program to complement the student’s academic program. The program creates opportunities for students to develop and realize their potential by providing them with practical training and leadership development.

The GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program is about developing Leadership, Community Involvement and Global Connections for a new generation of students.

What does the scholarship include?

  • Financial support for the last 2 to 3 years of your program
  • Access to funded participation in Leadership Development Seminar
  • Opportunities in community development or volunteer projects
  • Mentorship opportunities with GE Business Leaders

Leadership

Grow your leadership potential two ways:

  1. Funded participation in a seminar to develop leadership traits and skills as well as build networks to carry forth into your future career.
  2. Mentorship opportunities with GE Business Leaders.

Community Involvement

Strengthen your ties to your community with a community development project:

  1. Develop the terms of your own project.
  2. Implement your project independently or with an organization that matters to you, putting your skills and assets to use.

Global Connections

Link in to a global network of students and peers:

  1. Share your experiences with fellow Scholar-Leaders and alumni.
  2. Gain new perspective and valuable insight.

Who Can Apply?

The GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders program is designed to promote leadership skill in post-secondary students in  Engineering, Technology, Business, Finance, Managementor Economics.

Basic Requirements

If you are in your first or second year of study in Engineering, Technology, Business, Finance, Management or Economics and  you are attending a participating university, then you could qualify for the GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders program.

Because the GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders program is tailored to meet the post-secondary goals, education needs and local conditions of each participating region, the specific qualification criteria vary for each participating country.

Select the region in which you will be attending university to find the the regional-specific application information you will need to apply for the GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders program.

What are the selection criteria?

Only students enrolled in one of the partner universities within the specific field of study as indicated below are eligible to apply:

  1. VIT University, Vellore 
    – Biomedical Engineering
  2. Tezpur University, Assam 
    – Food Engineering and Technology
    – Mechanical Engineering
  3. IIT, Gandhinagar
    – Mechanical Engineering
  4. BITS, Pilani
    – Mechanical Engineering
    – Computer Science and Engineering
  5. MIT, Manipal
    – Mechanical Engineering

Students belonging to ONLY these colleges should enquire with their administration for other details regarding the subject areas, application forms, etc.
