- Entries must be in English.
- The blog should not be more than 550 words.
- Entries must be submitted on the contest page.
- Each contestant may submit only one entry.
- The person submitting the blog will be considered the contestant and will be the only person eligible to receive the prize.
- Entries will be published on the SPAN website after approval by the moderator. Contest entries will be moderated during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) on working days. Entries submitted after business hours, on weekends or holidays will be moderated on the next working day.
- The entry must be the original work of the contestant.
- No copyrighted or plagiarized material may be submitted. Such entries will be disqualified.
- Once a blog is submitted, it is considered a final submission and may not be modified, edited or replaced.
- Contestants are responsible for the factual accuracy of their blogs. SPAN does not take responsibility for the factual accuracy or originality of any text, including those accredited to any other individual or organization.
- The submissions should not contain any of the following: profanity; vulgarity; obscene or pornographic content; hate or racist speech; disruptive or hostile remarks; threats of violence; interpersonal disputes; attempts to hide or misspell offensive content; advertisements for items, services or commercial websites, including offers to trade, “wanted” posts or charitable solicitations.
Terms & Rights
- By entering the contest you represent and warrant and agree that:
- You have written and submitted the Entry.
- By submitting your Entry, you agree that SPAN magazine has no obligation to post or publish your Entry; that all such postings or publication, if any, will be at SPAN magazine's sole discretion; and that the posting or publication of an Entry does not guarantee the Entry will be selected as a winner.
- By submitting an Entry, you understand and grant SPAN magazine the permission for your Entry to be used in the print edition of SPAN magazine and posted on the magazine's website and social media in perpetuity for viewing by visitors to the websites. You also understand and grant permission for your Entry to be used on the other websites and social media platforms of the U.S. Mission in India.
- SPAN magazine is not responsible for any unauthorized third party use of any Entry.
- Entries will not be acknowledged and will not be received or held “in confidence”, and a submission does not create a confidential relationship or obligation of secrecy between you and SPAN magazine or any of its affiliates.
- Entries must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity.
- If the Entry contains any material or elements that are not owned by you and/or which are subject to the rights of third parties, you are responsible for obtaining, prior to submission of the Entry, any and all releases and consents necessary to permit the use and exhibition of the Entry by SPAN magazine in the manner set forth in these Official Rules.
- SPAN magazine reserves the right to request proof of these permissions in a form acceptable to them from any entrant at any time.
- By submitting an Entry, you warrant and represent that you consent to the submission and use of the Entry in the Contest, and to its posting on other U.S. government web pages.
- SPAN magazine reserves the right to disqualify any Entry for any reason, in its sole and absolute discretion. SPAN magazine is under no obligation to disclose why an Entry has been disqualified. Furthermore, SPAN magazine reserves the right to not award any prize if, in its sole and absolute discretion, if it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Entries in the contest period.
- SPAN magazine is not responsible for and shall not be liable for: electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet or computer malfunctions, failures or difficulties of any kind, including without limitation, server malfunction or for any human, typographical, printing or other error relating to or in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors which may occur in the administration of the Contest, processing of entries; the announcement of the prize or in any Contest-related materials, failed, incomplete, garbled, or delayed computer transmissions; late, lost, misdirected or incomplete entries; any condition caused by events that may cause the Contest to be disrupted or corrupted; or any damage to prizes during shipping or delivery.
