About The Program

Fair Trial Fellowship 2018 invites applications from young lawyers and social workers. The objective of the fellowship is to provide quality legal representation to undertrial prisoners and ensure that they have access to fair justice.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

Eligibility for young lawyers:

  • Applicant should have a minimum of one year experience of practising at trial court level.
  • Applicant should have registered as a practising advocate (Sanad) with Bar Council of any state.
  • Applicant should possess proficiency in the English and Marathi language. 
  • Applicant should have familiarity with the use of MS-Office, emails and the internet.
  • Applicant should have prior work experience in criminal litigation and/or work with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) is desirable.

Eligibility for social workers:

  • Applicant must hold a post-graduate qualification in social work (M.A. in Social Work/MSW) or any other Helping Professions/Social Science/Humanities subject or related areas from a Central/Deemed/State-recognised University.
  • Applicant must have a work experience of 1 year.
  • Applicant should be proficient in English and Marathi language. 
  • Applicant should have a familiarity with the use of MS-Office, emails and the internet.
  • Work experience in the criminal justice system is desirable.
Benefits

Fair Trial Fellowship 2018 provides INR 30,000 per month.

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be shortlisted for the first round of selection on the basis of academic qualification, work experience and their statement of purpose.
