Eye Researcher Travel Fellowship For Developing Country 2017 is to nourish the research capacity of beneficiary countries by bringing back information from the Annual Meeting. The ARVO Foundation for Eye Research was set up in 2001 by the ARVO Board of Trustees to support for innovative and novel vision research, especially work with version effect that encourage Post Doctoral collaboration between clinicians and basic scientists. The fellowship will provide the cash prize of $4500 which includes travel, hotel, per diem, annual membership, annual meeting registration, special events.

 

Eligibility

  • Should be a citizen of a developing country.
  • Should have an MD or PhD or its equivalent degree.
  • Post graduate students in scientific areas with an interest in entering basic vision research or residents in ophthalmology who have interest in academic careers as clinician scientists can apply.
  • Should have a want to pursue a career in teaching and research in vision and ophthalmology, whether clinical or basic, in their home countries.

Field of Interest:

  • Applicants should be interested in the area of eye and vision research, either basic or clinical research, epidemiology, public health, infectious diseases, genetics or a particular subspecialty.

Requirements of applicants:

  • Applicants are not required to submit an abstract or present at the Annual Meeting.
  • Applicants are expected to participate in all invited events, including the welcome and closing breakfasts, travel grant reception and weavr luncheon.
  • Applicants are required to submit a letter of thanks and a brief report of their experience to the ARVO Foundation that can be shared with award funders.
