About The Program

The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India is organizing a short film competition on Divyangjan Sashaktikaran 2017 - Short Films. The competition is being organized in association with the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. 

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
  • All interested candidates can submit their entries. 
  • The Short Film can be made in any of the listed official languages of India and must be subtitled in English. 
  • The Short Films can be shot on any electronic device. 
  • The Short Films must be produced in the last one year preceding the Competition, that is with effect from 9 August 2016.
How can you apply?

The interested candidates can apply by following the below-given steps -
Step 1: Shoot a short film of not more than 5 minutes based on any of the schemes offered by the DEPwD. 
Step 2: Download application form along with authorization letter
Step 3: Upload the Short Film on You Tube as an "Unlisted" Video and share its URL on this competition's page at MyGov. 
Step 4: Also submit duly filled application form and authorization letter on MyGov portal.

Award Details 

Short Films on following themes: (not more than 5 mins)
One prize only – Rs. 4,00,000 (Four lakhs), for each Category, mentioned
below:
i. Fellowship & Scholarship of DEPwD,
ii. Beneficiaries of Cochlear Implant, Distribution of Assistive Devices and Tricycle under Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase / Fitting of Aids and Appliances (ADIP Scheme), DEPwD
iii. Loan beneficiaries of National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC), DEPwD
iv. Beneficiaries of Accessible Buildings under Scheme for Implementation of Persons with Disabilities Act (SIPDA), DEPwD
v. Beneficiaries of NGOs taking grant –in-aid under Deendayal Disabled Rehabilitation Scheme (DDRS), DEPwD
vi. Various skill development initiatives of the DEPwD for Persons with Disabilities 

Note: Since the theme of the Short Films is on creating awareness about Accessible India Campaign and schemes of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), it is expected that the contents of the Short Films would be suitable for universal viewing.

Other important information 

  • Along with the application, the applicant has to upload the filmmaker’s photograph (300 dpi) and film stills in digital format.
  • All participants are requested to submit the items mentioned below. Failing to do so, will result in disqualification of entry-

1. URL of Unlisted Video uploaded on YouTube
2. Application Form (PDF)
3. Authorization Letter (PDF)
4. Filmmaker's Photograph (JPEG/PNG/PDF)
5. Film Stills (JPEG/PNG/PDF)

  • The award function will be held tentatively on 21st September 2017 at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi.
