The Government of India, Ministry of Science and Technolgy invites applications for DBT-Research Associateship Program Fellowship 2017. It is a two years fellowship program but can be extended up to three more years in some exceptional cases. The evaluation and the recommendation for extension will be forwarded by host institution only. A total of up to 75 candidates will be getting fellowships. Fellows will be getting a stipend in the range of Rs. 22,000 to 24,000 per month and a research contingency grant of Rs. 50,000 per year, payable to the host institution. Candidates who are yet to be awarded if will be getting Rs. 18,000 per month till the award of the degree. The fellows will be entitled for HRA and other benefits as per the DST guidelines. Candidates who are already in regular employment cannot avail the fellowship at their host institutions.

    Eligibility

    Ph.D in Science, Engineering or M.D. or M.S in any area of medicine with research interests in Biotechnology and Life Sciences having a good academic record. Those who have submitted their Ph.D/M.D/M.S thesis can apply. The applicants below 40 years of age are given preference and 45 years for women candidates. Working professionals can also apply. However, their applications should be forwarded through their employers.

    How can you apply?

    The application can be done by post only with the following steps:

    Step 1: The candidate have to submit their application on a plain paper as per the given format.

    Step 2: The candidate have to propose his/her place to work, the name of the supervisor.

    Step 3: One-page synopsis is a must.

    Step 4: A declaration stating if he/she will complete the tenure of the associateship.

    Step 5: Send this to the following address with "DBT-Research Associateship" clearly written on the envelope:

    Coordinator DBT-Research associateship Program, Department of Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Science Campus, Bangalore-560012.

Terms and Conditions

The selection of candidates will be based on the CV and performance in interview. which will be held at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. The candidates coming for interview will be paid 2nd class railway, bus fare. The candidates must have to join their host institution within one month of time after selection.

This fellowship will be provided for a period of two years in exceptional cases, it may extend upto 5 years. The evaluation and recommendation for the extension of the fellowship will be made by the host institution as per their internal guidelines.
