Commonwealth Medical Fellowships 2018 invites application from mid-career medics working in universities or affiliated teaching hospitals. The fellowship aims to provide an opportunity to enhance their clinical skills by fully funding their study at university hospitals in the United Kingdom.

DeadlineClosed Eligibility An applicant must be:
- A permanent resident of India.
- Employed in a hospital affiliated to a university.
- Qualified as a doctor between 1 October 2008 & 30 September 2011, or before 1 October 2003.
- Qualified through a medical school recognised by World Directory of Medical Schools.
- Having the English requirements of the General Medical Council (GMC) by 31 August 2018.
Note: Disable students are equally eligible for this fellowship.
Benefits Each selected candidate will get:
- Both side airfare from India to UK and return at the end of the fellowship.
- Research support grant to be paid to the host university hospital.
- Monthly stipend of GBP 1627 or GBP 2019 (for those at university hospitals in London metropolitan area).
- The fee of the single English language test & fee for General Medical Council (GMC) registration reimbursed.
- Warm clothing allowance.
- Study travel grants against approved travel within the UK.
- Widows, divorced or single parent candidates will get a monthly child allowance of GBP 457 for first child & GBP 112 for the second and third child under the age of 16 years, if they are accompanied by their children.
Documents - At least two academic references
- Evidence of agreement which states that the chosen university hospital will host the candidate's fellowship
- Document supporting English language requirements as per General Medical Council.
- Applicant's medical report
How can you apply? An eligible candidate can only submit their applications through University Grants Commission of India. We request you to contact them for advice, rules for applying and their own closing date of application.
Important Dates
Application Deadline: 21 May 2018
Submission of supporting documents to CSC: 28 May 2018
Deadline for nomination body to submit nominations to CSC: 4 June 2018
Selection Criteria
Applicants will be selected on the basis of:
- Academic merit
- Quality of the proposal
- The potential impact of the work on the development of the candidate's nation

Terms and Conditions
- Fellowship cannot be held simultaneously with any other award.
- Applicant will be required to sign & submit an undertaking to return back to India with the intention to resume/take up the university appointment referred in your application.
- Applicant must meet all the relevant immigration regulations set by UK Visas and Immigration.
