About The Program

Chevening South Asia Journalism Fellowship 2018 is funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office and aimed at mid-career journalists from the South Asian region. It provides an opportunity to explore the range of approaches taken by the UK and the South Asian region, and then use that knowledge to direct discussions that tackle the big issues challenging the field.

In order to be eligible for this scholarship, an applicant must -

  • Be a citizen of India and must not hold British nationality.
  • Have at least seven years work experience.
  • Be a mid-career journalist working in the political or economic sectors.
  • Have a postgraduate level qualification (or equivalent).
  • Agree to adhere to all relevant guidelines and expectations for the program.

Terms and Conditions

Documents required -

In order to submit the Chevening Scholarship application, it is essential for the students to keep the following documents ready -

  • Valid passport/national ID card
  • University transcripts and degree certificates (undergraduate, postgraduate)
  • Three different UK master's course choices

Optional Documents -

  • English language test results
  • UK master's university offer

Note-

  • One needs to submit the above optional documents if he/she already meets the requirements. He/she can submit the initial application without these documents, but these documents must be uploaded to the application by 12 July 2018.
  • Only documents in PDF format can be uploaded to the online application system, and documents cannot be more than 5MB in size.

Award details -

Each fellowship includes -

  • Full program fees.
  • Living expenses for the duration of the fellowship.
  • Return economy flight from candidate's country of residence to the UK.

A. No. Chevening Awards are aimed at graduates who have experience working in their chosen career field. They must hold a degree at the time of application.
