The Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India invites applications from students up to 18 years of age for 3rd National Essay Competition on water-related issues 2017-18. The competition aims at making the youth aware of the need to conserve and prevent water pollution and also involve their parents and society in the noble cause.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for the competition, an applicant must -

    • Be of age below 18 years. 
    • Be a holder of Aadhar / Aadhar enrolment. 
    • Not be an employee of Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation or any of its organizations. 

     

    How can you apply?

    Eligible candidates can apply for the competition both via email or by post through following steps -
    Step 1: Prepare an essay on topic - "Swachh Jal - Swachh Bharat" in not more than 1500 words. 
    Step 2: Furnish details like name, father's/mother's name, date of birth, profession, name & address of educational institution/workplace, telephone number, communication address, Email id etc. with the essay. 
    Step 3: Submit it to the Nodal Officer of candidate's respective State of stay via email or by post.

Award Details

On completion of both the phases of Essay Competition, total 60 best essays will be selected for first, second, third and consolation prizes for each Zonal office. The prize details include -

  • 10 winners of the first prize will receive a prize of INR 50000 each.  
  • 10 winners of the second prize will receive a prize of INR 25000 each. 
  • 10 winners of the third prize will receive a prize of INR 15000 each. 
  • 30 winners of consolation prize will receive a prize of INR 5000 each. 

Other details

  • The competition will be held in two phases. Phase 1 requires all applicants to submit their entries before 31 December 2017. 
  • Each applicant can submit only one essay. 
  • The essays can be submitted in Hindi, English or any other regional/local languages. 
  • The applicants are also required to attach or submit their recent colored passport size photograph along with the essay. 
  • Applicants can also send the scanned copy of essay manuscripts to their respective Nodal Officer by email. 
  • The panel of jury, appointed by the Nodal Officers will shortlist 10 best essays from each State/UT and they will be competing with each other in Phase 2 of the competition, held at State Unit offices or Regional offices. 
  • The selected candidates for Phase 2 are required to provide their age proof document (Class 10 certificate, Driving License, Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card etc.)
  • They are also required to provide the details of Aadhar linked bank account.
