Babu Jagjivan Ramji affectionately called Babuji was a freedom fighter and a crusader for social justice. He was a National leader, a great Parliamentarian, Union Minister for more than three decades and champion of depressed classes. His main concern was upliftment of underprivileged and depressed classes and restoration of human dignity to millions of untouchables of the society.

Babu Jagjivan Ram National Foundation was established on 14th March, 2008 as an Autonomous Organization under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, in the memory of Babu Jagjivan Ramji, to propagate his ideology and philosophy of life and missions,his vision to create a casteless and classless society, eradication of untouchabality and continuous struggle for achieving social justice for the dalits, downtrodden and weaker sections.

    Eligibility

    Babu Jagjivan Ram All India Essay Competition is for Students of recognized
    (a) Schools (Secondary& Senior Secondary Schools i.e. from class 9th to 12th) and
    (b) Colleges/Universities/Institutions.

    How can you apply?

    Send essay entry : Superscribe the envelope "Babu Jagjivan
    Ram All India Essay Competition - 2015" indicating medium & category and send
    the Essay by Registered/Speed Post to the following address only:-
    The Chair Professor, Dr. Ambedkar Chair of Legal Studies & Research,
    Department of Law, Qila Road, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh-202002, Uttar Pradesh

    The topic of essay for the Class 9 to 12 is:- Babu Jagjivan Ram: His transformation from Social Activist to Freedom Fighter to Statesman (2000 words).

    The topic of essay for the College and Universities Student is:- Social Inclusion: Vision and works of Babu Jagjivan Ram. (3500 words)
     

    (i) There is no entry fee.

    (ii) The Essay shall be of 3500 word for students of college/ Universities/ Institutions and 2000
    words for students of schools.

    (iii) One entry from each student.

    (iv) Each participant shall submit a certificate issued by his school/ college/ universities certified that
    he/she is a bonafide student.

    (v) The participants shall submit a certificate that the essay is their original work.

    (vi) Participant should send two typed / neatly handwritten copies ( one original and other photocopy)
    of the essay. One copy should have his/ her name address and topic with his signature while
    the other copy need not show any such particulars.

    (vii) The rules and regulations of the competition are binding.

    (viii) No correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

    (ix) Plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification.

    (x) Relevant information such as name, email address, postal address, institutions, course and year of
    study etc. of the student participant should be indicated in the covering letter.

    (xi) Babu Jagjivan Ram National Foundation reserve the right to accept and reject the entries that do
    not conform to this guidelines and the decision of the Foundation will be final.

    (xii) All entries received for competition will become the property of Babu Jagjivan Ram National
    Foundation. The winning entries may be considered for publication in a book form by the
    foundation.

Terms and Conditions

The aim of the Babu Jagjivan Ram All India Essay Competition is to encourage writing on social issues, among the students of Schools/Colleges/Universities/ Institutions and arouse their interest in Babu Jagjivan Ram’s thoughts on fundamental social issues like social justice, removal of untouchability, caste based prejudices, removal of inequality and discrimination, social democracy, national integration, communal harmony etc. The students are expected to analise and suggest ways and means to establish a stronger social democracy and a just society.
