Ayn Rand invites entries for Annual Essay Contest 2018 from students of Class 8 to graduation under three different categories namely - Anthem Essay, the Fountainhead essay and the Atlas Shrugged essay contest. The themes of the contests are based on the thought-provoking novels of Ayn Rand.
Ayn Rand's Annual Essay Contest 2018
DeadlineClosed Eligibility To be eligible for the contest, an applicant must -
- Be studying in class 8 to 10 (for Anthem Essay Contest).
- Be studying in class 11 and 12 (for the Fountainhead Essay Contest).
- Be class 12 passed students, undergraduates and postgraduates (for Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest).
How can you apply? Eligible candidates can apply for the contest through following steps -
Step 1: Click on the respective links to apply for Anthem Essay Contest / The Fountainhead Essay Contest / Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest.
Step 2: Fill in all required details.
Step 3: Upload the essay on the prescribed theme.
Step 4: Finally submit the essay.
Note: If not applying online, the applicants can mail stapled copies of their essays to The Ayn Rand Institute, P.O. Box 57044, Irvine, CA 92619-7044 with the name of the essay contest applying for on top.

Contest Deadlines
- The last date to send the entries for Anthem Essay Contest is 1 May 2018.
- The last date to send the entries for the Fountainhead Essay Contest and Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest is 15 May 2018.
Award Details
For Anthem Essay Contest
- The first prize winner will receive a cash prize of USD 2,000.
- 5 second prize winners will receive a cash prize of USD 500.
- 10 third prize winners will receive a cash prize of USD 200.
- 45 finalists will receive a cash prize of USD 50.
- 175 Semifinalists will receive a cash prize of USD 30.
For the Fountainhead Essay Contest
- The first prize winner will receive a cash prize of USD 10,000.
- 5 second prize winners will receive a cash prize of USD 2,000.
- 10 third prize winners will receive a cash prize of USD 1,000.
- 45 finalists will receive a cash prize of USD 100.
- 175 Semifinalists will receive a cash prize of USD 50.
For Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest
- The first prize winner will receive a cash prize of USD 10,000.
- 5 second prize winners will receive a cash prize of USD 2,000.
- 10 third prize winners will receive a cash prize of USD 1,000.
- 45 finalists will receive a cash prize of USD 100.
- 175 Semifinalists will receive a cash prize of USD 50.
