About The Program

American India Foundation invites application for the AIF William J. Clinton Fellowship for service in India from the Indian or U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident having bachelor's degree. This fellowship is an immersive volunteer service program that matches young professionals with developmental organizations in India.

In order to be eligible, an applicant must-

  • Have done a Bachelor's degree prior to the start of the program, i.e., 1st September 2018.
  • Be aged between 21 to 34 years as on 1st September 2018.
  • Have deep interest, commitment and passion to economic and social development in India.
  • Possess relevant volunteering or strong professional skills or applicable academic credentials or training or other practical experiences.
How can you apply?

In order to apply, follow the steps given below-

Step 1- Go to this page.
Step 2- Click on Start application.
Step 3- Click on Sign up to create a new account.
Step 4- Fill in all the necessary details and submit. Note- A confirmation email will be sent to the registered email id.
Step 5- Open the email and click on the activation link given there. Note- It will redirect to a new page and this page will contain the award section.
Step 6- Tick the award named AIF William J. Clinton Fellowship.
Step 7- Fill in all the details and upload the necessary documents.
Step 8- Submit the application form.

Terms and Conditions

Award details-
American India Fellowship will provide domestic travel expenses to the fellows from their hometowns in India, a monthly living stipend, and insurance coverage.

Q. What kind of educational background and skills are required?
A. We seek applicants from a variety of backgrounds, both professionally and personally.
Candidates should demonstrate a deep interest, passion, and commitment to social and economic development in India. Candidates must show humility and an eagerness to learn within a cross-cultural context. Ideal candidates possess strong professional skills, relevant volunteer or other practical experience, and applicable academic credentials or training. They show a potential for leadership and are entrepreneurial, innovative, and creative in finding solutions and navigating unknown environments.
Candidates must be flexible and adaptable, and possess exceptional ability to build meaningful relationships across cultures in the social development space. A sensitivity and ability to work with vulnerable communities, as well as the humility and passion to “learn by doing” is essential.Although proficiency in an Indian language is not required to apply, it is highly desirable.
Q. What are the language requirements?
A. Fluency in English is required. It is not a requirement for Fellows to speak the local language, however, it is considered a valuable skill in the selection process and taken into consideration when placing Fellows with AIF partner organizations. If accepted into the program, Fellows may be eligible to receive some language training in a local language.
