The Asian College of Journalism and the Media Development Foundation, both collaborated to invite applications for ACJ Awards for Investigative Journalism 2017. It is instituted to recognize and act as an accelerator to encourage the work of investigative journalists. There will be two categories Print + Digital (newspapers, magazines, websites and other digital platforms) and Broadcast (television). It will cover a wide variety of journalistic investigation which includes abuse of public office, environment degradation, human rights violation, financial fraud, corporate mismanagement, gender-related violence, political apathy, war crimes, civic neglect etc. The judging criteria will include the nature of the investigation, its impact, and the interest of public. The awards will carry a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 2,00,000 each.
ACJ Awards for Investigative Journalism 2017
DeadlineClosed Eligibility - Any person related to journalism, editors or newsroom can apply.
- Organizations can also apply based on the nature of the work and the number of persons involved.
- Each participant can submit a maximum of three entries in both the categories.
How can you apply? The applicants have to fill the form online and they can either submit it online only or can send by post also. The steps for filling the form are as follows:
Step 1: Go to the website and read all the details.
Step 2: Now start filling the nomination form from here.
Step 3: Write down your name, date of birth, email and mobile number.
Step 4: You can nominate four names, write down the Organisation/Company name, Title of work, Language, Category (newspaper, magazine, radio, website, television).
Step 5: Date of publication of work (which must be published in 2015 only), text file link (if any), video file link (if any), audio file link (if any), image file link (if any), short biography of journalist or a team (200 words) and the short introduction to the work (200 words).
Step 6: You can now click on submit or you can send by post also.
Note: Fill in the details in capital letters and attach the concerned copies of articles, CDs, flash drives, etc. and send in your entries to:

Important Dates
- Only journalistic work that was published or broadcast from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2016 will be considered.
- The deadline for nominations/entries is February 28, 2017. Entries submitted after this date will not be considered.
- The final shortlist will be announced and the winners will be presented the awards on 3 May 2017 in Chennai at the ACJ Convocation Ceremony.
