What is A-STAR India Youth Scholarship 2016?

The A*STAR Youth Scholarship is tenable for 4 years leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced’ (GCE ‘A’) Level (or equivalent) certificate.

The Scholarship is for studies in selected Singapore schools from Secondary Three to Pre-University Two and is renewed annually, subject to the satisfactory performance of the scholar.

Who can apply for this scholarship ?

Interested candidates who meet the following criteria are invited to apply for the scholarship:

  • Nationals of India
  • Born between 1999 and 2001
  • Completed Standard 8 in the Year 2015
  • Possess outstanding academic track record (at least an average of 80% / minimum ‘A’ with English as first language in the Standards 7 and 8 school final examinations)
  • Possess a high level of oral and written competency in English

How can you apply ?

Applicants are to apply online using the online application system. Each applicant should submit only ONE application only. If you encounter difficulties during your online application, you may contact Customer Service Centre at +65 6872 2220.

All applicants are to send certified copies of the following items directly to the Singapore Ministry of Education. The documents should arrive before the closing date (12 July 2015):

  • Birth Certificate;
  • Identity Card / Passport (if any); and
  • Final Examination Result Slips for the last two years (Standards 7 and 8 final examinations)

Original documents that are not in English must be translated to English. The translated documents must be accompanied by a photocopy of the original documents. Please do not send in any original documents as they will not be returned. There will be no acknowledgement of receipt of documents.



  • Am I eligible to apply for scholarships?

Different scholarships have their respective eligibility criteria. You may wish to visit for more information on the eligibility criteria for each scholarship.

  •  When do scholarship applications open?

Each scholarship has a different application period. You may wish to visit for more information on the application period for each scholarship and other important dates.
Alternatively, you can log on to  to register your interest in any of the scholarships. We will notify you when applications for the scholarship(s) of interest open.

  • What is required to gain access to the online application form?

You will need a computer with internet connection. You can only access the online application form through .

  • How do I logon to this website to apply for a scholarship? How do I activate my user account?

You need to first create a user account in order to logon to this website. You will be required to provide your personal particulars and a valid email address to create the user account. An acknowledgement email will then be sent to your email address with a hyperlink for you to verify your email address.
You can activate your user account by clicking on the hyperlink provided in the email. Upon your successful user account activation, you will be allowed to logon to the website directly to complete your scholarship application. All correspondence regarding your scholarship application will be sent to the same email address you have provided when registering for your user account.
For applicants who meet the eligibility criteria and have applied in previous years, please use a new email address when re-applying for the scholarship.

  • I am interested in applying for a particular scholarship, but I cannot find the name of the scholarship on the registration page.

Only scholarships that are currently open for application will be shown on the registration page. You may wish to visit for more information on the application period for each scholarship.

  • Is there any restriction on the password I select?

Your password must be between 8 to 25 alphanumeric characters and contain at least 1 digit and 1 letter of the alphabet. Please also note that the password is case-sensitive.

  • What happens if I forget my password? Can I reset my password?

Click on the 'Forgot Your Password?' hyperlink on the Scholarship Application homepage and enter your email address and date of birth. A new password will be sent to your email address, which you can use to logon to the Scholarship Application system. Once you have logged on successfully, you will be requested to reset your password.
Please note that your new password must be between 8 to 25 alphanumeric characters and must contain at least 1 digit and 1 letter of the alphabet. The new password should not be the same as your existing password or the previous 2 passwords. Passwords are case-sensitive.

  • When and how will I be notified of the status of my online application?

Applicants short-listed for the selection test and/or selection interview will be notified through email and/or post one week before the selection test/interview dates. We regret that only short-listed applicants will be notified. You may wish to visit for key dates to take note of during the year of application.

  • Do I need to pay any fees to apply for the scholarships online?

No, there is no fees payable for online application.

  • Can I save the information I have entered and continue filling in the online application form the next time I login?

Yes. Click on the 'Save' button located at the bottom of each section to save the information entered for that particular section.

  • Is there a time limit given to complete the online application form?

You will be automatically logged out should you fail to click on the 'Save' button at the bottom of each page within 30 minutes.

  • If I am automatically logged out by the system, will the information that I have entered be saved?

The information you have entered will only be saved if you have clicked on the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page. If you have been logged out by the system, only the information you have entered and saved previously will be available the next time you login.

  • How do I know that my online application form has been submitted successfully?

If your online application form has been successfully submitted after you have clicked on the 'Confirm and Submit' button, you will be directed to an Acknowledgement Page indicating your application number. An acknowledgement email containing your application number will also be sent to your email address.

  • How do I print a copy of the completed online application form?

You will be able to print a copy of your completed application form by clicking on the 'Print' button on the Preview Page, before the submission of your application form. If you have already submitted your application form, you can use the File->Print function (or Ctrl+P) on your browser to print the completed form.
Can I make any amendments or changes to my application after submitting the online form?
No amendments or changes can be made to submitted applications. Please ensure that all information you have provided in your application is correct before submission.

  • What should I do if I have submitted an online application form with incorrect information?

We would like to advise applicants to check all data thoroughly before submitting their applications. However, should you discover an error, please send an email to and provide the following information

Short description of error.
We will nullify this application if and only if the above is done. Thereafter, please reapply for the scholarship by using a new email address. All applications must be received before the closing date/time.

  • I did not receive an acknowledgement email after creating my user account

Please check your normal in-box, junk mail in-box, trash mail in-box, spam mail in-box and all other filtered mail in-box for the acknowledgement email. Once located, you should click on the URL embedded in that email to login using the email and password registered. Please note that you have to manually type in your email address and password to login to complete the rest of the application. If the acknowledgement email still cannot be found, please reapply using a fresh email account.

  • What is the format of the photograph I need to upload?

The photograph should be a passport-sized one which was taken recently and satisfies these criteria
either JPG or GIF format
size no more than 60kB and
a maximum resolution of 150 pixels X 200 pixels.
