SOF is a Registered Not-For-Profit Organization Popularising Computer, Science, Mathematics and English Education among school children.
A non-profit organization established by leading academicians, scientists and media personalities with the aim of promoting science, mathematics and computer education, the Science Olympiad Foundation has been striving for over a decade to promote scientific attitude through innovative activities and use of IT in learning process that involve school students across the country.
In the present times when the world is totally pivoted on science and IT, it is pertinent to think and plan about the future - a future in which the children of the present shall be the leaders of tomorrow. Regular qualitative and quantitative assessment needs to be done at the national level in order to build up the scientific and IT talent pool. It is in this sphere that the role of SOF has been much appreciated over these last few years, so much so that highly reputed organizations like WIPRO, LG, Reliance, Aakash Institute, Vidyalankar Dnyanapeeth Trust, Resonance and MTG Learning Media have volunteered to support SOF's various programmes.
SOF's integrity and commitment towards the fulfillment of its objectives have been lauded by thousand of schooling institutions and millions of students who have directly benefited from its educative, informative and evaluative programmes. For the future SOF has several more innovative programmes lined up, which promise to bring about a sea change in the approach to science, maths and computer education.
SPHERE OF ACTIVITIES
All activities of the Foundation invariably aim at making learning an interesting and interactive process in which the learner is actually able to put his / her skills, memory, talent and knowledge to test.
For this the Foundation conducts workshops, seminars and science/IT competitions for students of different classes and age groups. Science workshops have already become a great success in several schools. The National Science Olympiad has proved to be a highly motivating and rigorous aptitude testing platform with special and exclusive focus on Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mental Ability. The National Cyber Olympiad focuses on logical reasoning, analytical skills and IT.
The International Mathematics Olympiad is a mean to identify and encourage the mathematical creativity of children through problem solving.
Class 1 to 12 Students
Registration of Students: The IEO is open to the students of classes 1 to 12. Prospectus containing the Registration forms are sent to all schools registered with SOF. Schools not registered may also request for prospectus by sending an e-mail at email@example.com/ phone call. Schools must return the registration forms to SOF, duly filled in and complete in all respects by the due date.
Roll Numbers: The school's coordinating teacher will generate the students' Roll Numbers as per the guidelines given. A copy of these roll numbers along with the Students' Registration Sheet (SRS) and School Registration Form (SRF) should be sent to the Foundation's office before the due date of submission of forms.
Foundation will register the applicant school and the students and dispatch question papers and guidelines for conducting the examination. Principals / teachers may please note that any school can be registered as a center for IEO. No fee is required from the institution to become a registered examination Centre. A minimum of 10 students need to be registered from each school for feasibility reasons.
The IEO is conducted on two dates for Level One. Each school may select a date for conducting the IEO as per its convenience. Each date of exam has a separate question paper.
Students should register through their respective schools only. Individual registrations by students is not accepted.
Fees: A nominal participation fee is charged from each student. Part of it is retained by the school for its expenses as exam center. Details about the fee / mode of payment etc. are given in the School Registration Forms sent to schools.
The International English Olympiad is conducted in two levels:
Level 1: The first level of the test is organized in the respective schools of the participants during school hours.
(i) The level 1 competition is a written objective-type test of 60 minutes duration comprising 35 objective-type (Multiple Choice) questions for class 2 to class 4 and 50 objective-type (Multiple Choice) questions for class 5 to class 12.
(ii) The question paper consists of:
(a) Word & Structure Knowledge Reading (b) Spoken & Written Expression (c) Achiever's Section
(iii) There are separate question papers for each class.
(iv) The medium of the test is English.
(v) CBSE, ICSE/ISC and State Board syllabus is followed for setting the test papers.
(vi) The exam is conducted during school hours.
