Introduction

13th Maths Talent Search Scholarship Examination (MTSE 2014)

(for students from Std. I to XII)

 

      This year also the Kerala Ganitha Sasthra Parishad is conducting Maths Talent Search Scholarship Examination (MTSE) for students studying in state, CBSE and ICSE syllabus.

Students from Std. I to XII can participate in the Scholarship Examination. There will be separate examination for each standard. There will be a total of 34 rank lists including Malayalam medium and English medium. Rank lists are prepared separately for state, CBSE and ICSE syllabus. Scholarships and certificates will be awarded for the first 10 rank holders from each list. Moreover the first rank holder from each list will be honored with gold medal. If there is tie for any rank in the final examination, the marks obtained by the students in the previous examination will be considered. if the tie is not broken yet, selection will be done by lot. All the selection procedures will be under the supervision of an expert committee and the decision of the committee will be final.

 

Examination centers (preliminary)

Those primary schools where a minimum of 25 students participate and those H.S and H.S.S where minimum of 50 students participate will be Examination centers.

 H.S.S (+1, +2); H.S; U.P; L.P (Kerala syllabus)

Rs.50.00.

  

 

 H.SS; H.S; U.P; L.P (CBSE, ICSE)

Rs.60.00.

 

How to conduct the preliminary examination?
 
20% of the fee collected from students can be used for conducting the preliminary examination. The remaining 80% should be sent to the secretary, Kerala Ganitha Sastra Parishad, Manarcad PO,  Kottayam-19 by D.D payable at Kottayam or M.O. The coordinator at the examination center can use the 20% as supervision allowance and for buying  stationary items.
 
Registration
 
Application can be submitted either in the form issued by Ganitha Sasthra Parishad or its copy. If the number of participants from a school is high and the space in the form is not sufficient , copies of the front page can be added. The list of pupils in the application form must be standard-wise and medium-wise. The name and address of the school with pin code, phone number and email address should be written in the application form. The name and phone number of the coordinator is compulsory. Don’t forget to mention the convenient courier service.

 

How to apply

Send the duly filled-in application form to the general secretary, Kerala Ganitha Sastra Parishad, Manarcad PO, Kottayam-19 by registered post or speed post (please avoid courier service).
 
Applications sent by parents directly will not be considered.
 
NB. Application and registration fee can be submitted directly at our office (Kavinpadi, Manarcad, Kottayam). Don’t forget to keep the receipt obtained.
 
Registration begins on 11 June 2013 and ends at 5 pm, 17 October 2013.
 
MTSE (Preliminary)
 
The preliminary examination in conducted at the centers. The KGSP will supply question papers. Answers are to be marked in the question paper itself. The coordinator should supply written paper in the examination hall for scratch work. After the examination, answer sheets must be packed in order and sent to KGSP by registered post or courier (Speed & Safe/Professional Couriers only) on or the next day itself.
 
MTSE (Final)
 
The first 5 rank holders of the preliminary examination will be invited to the final examination at 14 district centers. A copy of the preliminary examination results and the list of final examination centers will be sent to each preliminary MTSE examination centers before 10 January 2014. For the final examination, students must provide their preliminary hall tickets at the respective centers.

 

Syllabus of the Examination.

The questions for the examination are prepared based on the maths text of each standard. Portions to be covered up to 5th December will be included. students can make use of the MTSE guides published by Ganitha sasthra Parishad.

MTSE (Previous & Final)
 
The first 5 rank holders in each category in the previous examination are selected for the final examination. Scholarships’ are given to the first 10 rank holders in each category in the final examination. In addition to that students scoring more than 80% marks in both previous and final examination will be given certificates with grades marked.

 

Top Scorers Award
 
Cash awards and certificates are given to the best student in each school that has won none of the state level awards or certificates. The student selected must have written the scholarship examination.
