Top scholarships to study in Japan

People of Japan are known for their intelligence, strong health, politeness, and wellness. Not only this, Japan is also unique and different from the rest of the world in terms of education.

Home to many universities of national and international repute such as Waseda University and Keio University, Japan is another favourite destination of education for many international students.

With the literacy rate of about 99% in this land of rising sun, almost every person knows how to read and write. Having high literacy rate, Japan has a lot to offer in terms of international courses to students who aspire to earn a degree from here.

To attract international students to pursue their research and higher studies here, the Japan government along with other government and private universities offer a number of scholarships.

Here, we have prepared a list of scholarships for international students who would like to pursue their studies here.

Honjo International Scholarship, Japan

This scholarship calls for applications from foreign graduates and post graduate students who are willing to study in Japan to earn a doctoral degree. People having sound understanding of international goodwill and friendship with the ability to conversate in Japanese can apply for this scholarship. The Scholarship has multiple rewards to offer.

ADB – Japan Scholarship Program

Graduate students who have taken admission for a one-year MA/ PHD are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Its objective is to provide well qualified applicants an opportunity to undertake postgraduate studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields. The scholarship offers full tuition fees, a monthly allowance, housing, books, medical insurance and travel.

College of Technology Japanese Scholarships

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) is inviting scholarships from international students who wish to study at the Japanese College of Technology under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program. Applicants willing to learn Japanese and having the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan are eligible foe this scholarship. The award offers 117,000 Yen/month.

Japanese Government Scholarships for Undergraduates

With the motive of strengthening relationship between India and Japan, the Japanese government is inviting applications from undergraduate students who wish to pursue graduation in the field of Social Science, Humanities and Natural Science in japan. Applicants having the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan are eligible to apply. The scholarship offers 117,000 Yen per month.

Kyushu University Friendship Scholarships Japan

This scholarship is inviting application from graduates and post graduates who are enrolled in non-Japanese universities. Offering students to study at the Kyushu university, the scheme aims to foster the nation’s future leaders, maintain good relations with Kyushu University and play the role of point of contact to cultivate joint research and bring in external capital depending on their course or career after graduation. The scholarship offers 80,000 yen per month for undergraduate students 100,000 yen per month for graduate students and travel expenses up to 100,000 yen.

UNU-IAS PhD Scholarships, Japan

The scholarship calls for post graduates for its PhD programme in Sustainability Science to take an innovative approach to promote a better understanding of global perspective related to climate change and biodiversity. Students who have done PhD in one of the UNU-IAS research themes focusing on global change and sustainability are eligible to apply. The scholarship covers monthly allowance of 150,000 JPY (Japanese Yen) and full tuition fee.
