Top colleges in India to study Teaching and Education

To produce quality students, quality teachers are needed. And to get quality teachers, proper course and training programmes are needed. Moreover, the prime focus of a teacher should be to instil a love of learning in students as well as help them further seek self-improvement and development.

Aspirants, who would like to pursue their career in Teaching and Education, need to do a lot of research to find out best colleges offering courses on teaching and education such as B.Ed and M.Ed. To ease their work of search, here, we have prepared a list of colleges in India to study Teaching and Education.

Department of Education, University of Delhi

Earlier known as the Central Institute of Education, the Department of Education of the University of Delhi was established in 1947. The department offers B.Ed. and M.Ed. programmes. Those who wish to take up teaching as their profession can look out for its admission form in the month of June every year.

St Xavier’s College, Kolkata

Established in 1860 by the Society of Jesus, a Christian Religious Order, St Xavier’s College is one of the premier institutions to offer Bachelor in Education to students. If you wish to apply for the course, you should look out for its application in the months of February and March every year.

Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi

One of the prominent educational institution of the country, LSR offers an undergraduate course of four years in elementary education, via, Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.). Registration for the course generally starts in the month of June every year.

Dept of Educational Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia

Started in December 1980, the Department of Educational Studies offers both regular and part time courses such as M.Phil./Ph.D. in Educational Studies, M.A. in Educational Planning & Administration, M.Ed. and PG Diploma in Educational Management. Interested students who wants to pursue educational courses from JMI, the admission forms come out in the month of February every year.

Lady Irwin College

Founded in 1932, the Lady Irwin College is exclusively for women and is affiliated to the University of Delhi. The college offers B.Ed. in Home Science and B.Ed. Special Education (Mental Retardation) to the girl students. To seek admission in these courses, the candidates have to go through entrance exam. The entrance test is conducted every year in the month of either June or July.
